Brian Rich has been in the IT industry since 1972, as a programmer, analyst, system designer, development manager, project manager and consultant. In that time he has worked for many commercial and public organisations, providing advice, assistance, technology transfer, training, consultancy and guidance in the practical applications of IT.
He built his first computer from components in 1983, and has worked with many mainframe, mini computers and PCs since then. He has had hands on most personal computers since the Apple II and Commodore PET up to his current PC and iMac. He has linked computers together using everything from a two-wire cable to a satellite link. He has worked as a freelance computer consultant, specialising in providing consultancy and support to SMEs and small organisations who wish to make the most of their current investment in IT. He now works for ruralnet|uk as an IT project manager, providing help and support to ruralnet users and staff to get the best out of their IT systems.
