DoH Social Enterprise Investment Fund

The Department of Health is holding a Social Enterprise Investment Fund (SEIF) of £100 million over a four year period (£63 million capital and £27 million revenue from 2008/09 to 2010/11) for social enterprises delivering health and social care services.

Hello For the last two years we have bought in some one to carry out our annual electrical testing e.g. PCs, monitors, kettle etc. However, I have now heard that we don't need to pay someone to do it and that we can do it ourselves. Is this true and what's involved?

Can doctors join a social enterprise?

I am working with a potential social enteprise in the health field we are nearing looking at setting up the company and I have heard something to the effect that if the doctors come across to the social enterprise there is only one type of mem & arts that would be acceptable. Could someone explain if they've heard this too and if so what type of mem & arts would it be and why is it so special ?

Care Services in rural areas

Has anyone come accross a scheme to provide care services for the elderly in rural areas by providing care assistants with tied housing? This would hopefully compensate for low wages in the sector and lack of affordable housing in areas where 2nd homes push prices up.
