We use Google Analytics to gather user stats from our website. These appear to be very comprehensive and are easy to download, but we want to be sure we are interpreting them effectively, especially when we are using them to provide evidence of performance and outcomes. As part of our charity's website, I thought it might be a good idea to include a discussion forum to enable local people to talk about regeneration issues. The web designer set up a forum (phpBB)and since it's been set up, it has just caused me a bit of a headache and is on the way to putting me off including some more interactive features in a community website we're planning. A result of the complicated registration process has been that many legitimate people have been put off joining the forum.
I would be interested to know what you think about the following so that when we plan our community website, we avoid many of these annoyances:

Can I check how many times a user has visited a website, at what times and for how long?
A great video from Commoncraft that introduces the ins and outs of social bookmarking using del.icio.us in less than three and a half minutes. Don't worry if del.icio.us is a mystery, this uses felt-tip pens and bits of paper to explain it!
