Hi I am fund raising for Birmingham YMCA and I am looking for funding that we could use to establish a volunteering project. We already employ a volunteer coordinator who has around 6 months of funding remaining. I would be looking for around 30k per year to help with. Continuing our employment of our co-coordinator and expanding our volunteering project to encompass:- Supporting Homeless People into volunteering. Working with other volunteer agencies to provide routes into volunteering for homeless people. Recruiting training and retaining volunteers from our local communities to help with the running of our homeless projects and
Volunteering is very much the flavour of the month at the moment, with both the government and funders viewing volunteering as an important component in the sustainability of projects and a part of a long-term contribution to community cohesion. Volunteering England (http://www.volunteering.org.uk/)will provide you with useful background information and there are links provided at the end of the post to their funding and resource web pages.
I have carried out a funding search (full details attached as a Word document - see below) using your area, the £30,000 annual running costs, and the themes of the project. I would like to draw your attention to some of the funding sources from the search which are important for the amount they will fund, and their commitment to supporting either volunteering and/or homelessness:
