HACKNEY - HOLIDAY GRANTS PROGRAMME
Grants to support organisations providing holiday activities for children and young people in the London Borough of Hackney, contributing to long~term benefits for their health and wellbeing. Activities taking place during school holidays which have links to existing provision such as youth clubs, play centres and those involved in sport and recreation. Up to a maximum of £10,000 per applicant group. Match Fund: not a necessity, however, applicants providing 'in-kind' contributions may be favoured.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT
Not-for-profit voluntary groups that are fully constituted and financially solvent. Working in, and serving the needs of, clients from the London Borough of Hackney. Applicants cannot be a public or local authority body.
CRITERIA
The 2008 deadline has now passed. Details on future deadlines will be reported when available Projects must be financially viable and planned around school holiday periods. Projects must involve volunteers, parents and carers and use public transport or provision from Hackney Community Transport.

HELP A LONDON CHILD

VENTURE TRUST
Practical help and support for young people in Britain aged 16~25 in the form of residential courses that give them a chance to make changes in their lives, try new experiences, learn new skills and meet new people. Courses take place at Applecross, on the north west coast of Scotland. Each course group is a mix of up to 24 participants referred by agencies working with disadvantaged or excluded young people or by criminal or youth justice services. Standard courses are either 10 days or three weeks in length Purpose: the belief that giving young people opportunities to develop their self-esteem and sense of accountability can help them to make positive changes to their lives.

Young people aged 16-25 referred by someone they are already working with at home such as a youth worker, key worker or social worker. Location: Scotland, England and Wales
