What is the process for a redundancy?

A voluntary group has recently announced redundancies at their local organisation and there appears to be confusion over the exact process that should be followed. As you can imagine this has caused great distress to all concerned. Would it be possible to point me in the right dirrection as to how to find out the exact process that should have been followed.
