How can I stop deleted files and folders reappearing on a networked drive?

One of my users with WinXP and Office 2000 has an unusual issue. She has deleted several folders including Word and Excel documents which have reappeared in their parent folder on our networked drive. This has happened two days running. Is their a ghost in her machine or is there a more mundane answer?
