Post Office Closures

Following the DTI consultation which ended in March 2007 the Government announced that 2,500 Post Offices will close in the UK.

The closures will all undergo a 6 week consultation process in their local area. This will be managed in groups known as areas - the areas will be based on Parliamentary Constituencies and there will be 40-50 areas covering the whole of the UK.

It is not yet known in what order the announcements and consultations will take place.

The closure of 2500 Post Offices is compulsory.
